biography
1979 born in Solingen, Germany
lives and works in Berlin
Sandra Schlipkoeter uses the concept of interference as an overarching theme for her extensive body of work, which spans painting, sculpture, and installation. She studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Professor Eberhard Havekost, whose influence was essential to the development of her photorealistic visual language.
Since 2012, her work has focused on photographically generated and painterly reproduced interferences of natural and digital light. These are translated into oil paintings, cut-outs made from fabric-like materials, and spatial installations. By experimenting with various forms of light and manipulating materials such as mirror film or paper—cutting, layering, and rotating them—she creates dynamic, energy-filled visual worlds.
