After an American Art and Music education, Adrian Esparza showed his Mexican-American border point of view in several solo and group shows since 2003. Particularly known by a wider public since Istanbul Biennale (2011), Istanbul, Turkey, and later with a commissioned on-site work for the Pérez Art Museum Miami, Miami, USA. His work is represented in the collections of the Pérez Art Museum Miami, El Paso Museum of Art, and Dallas Museum of Art and has been shown in a great amount of group shows all over the USA and UK (“Adventures of the Black Square”, Whitechapel Gallery, London, UK). Esparza considers his installations as an evolving self-portrait, with serapes representing tradition and cultural identity, displaced or lost from its site of origin. The engaging linear thread structures and drawings create multi-dimensional, vibrantly coloured layers within space.
